Sunday 2nd May 2021 - Cwm Gwaun
The first week of led walks for 2021 was concluded by a visit to the Gwaun Valley.
Fifteen walkers met at Bedd Morris in fine but chilly conditions. The route initially crossed fields to reach the wooded slopes of the valley. A detour along the permissive path at Allt Pen-geggin-isaf provided a pleasant location for a coffee stop.
Some of the party donned waterproofs as the skies darkened and drops of rain fell after Pont Faen but fortunately this scare was short lived.
Another detour at Tregynon led via an impressive flight of steps, installed by National Park volunteers, to the waterfall.
On the climb up to Carn Edward, Sian demonstrated her impressive stock handling skills to clear a path to a stile and once upon the ridge it was a leisurely stroll back to the start.
