Pembrokeshire

Gwaun Valley and Preseli hills. 8½ miles.

Set off from Bedd Morris car park on the road from Newport & Pontfaen with a group of 11 walkers.

Weather had been bad over the last few days so the expectation was for muddy conditions in the valley and generally suggy on the top.

But the rain held off and the sun shone, and the mud was quite benign and everyone enjoyed it (well, I didn't get any complaints !)

The walk took slightly longer than my estimate, mainly due to Nigel's wild enthusiasm at the  number of unusual fungi revealed by the strange recent weather. But his enthusiasm was infections. so no-one minded.

From Bedd Morris we headed down into the valley via road, fields and woodland to cross the river at Pontfaen. From there we walked east up the valley on the south side, about as for as the path allow, then north through Llanerch farm, continuing through woodland, fields. and open grazing land, to reach the rock out crop and the impressive placid highland cattle at Carn Edward. Sun still shining. hills, so wonderful views of the surrounding hills.

From there, due west over. Morris open heath back to Bedd with fine vistas over Dinas Head and the sea.

To round. off day of then adjourned to the some Tafarn Sinc & generally put the world to rights.
