2019-12-14 Roch - Plumstone

Fortunately the weather forecast for the 14 th December was totally accurate. The rain that lashed down at dawn cleared to give dry but windy and cold conditions for the start of this walk at 10am. Hats and glocves were needed by the thirteen walkers who started this walk from Roch. After a short distance the party enjoyed the shelter of the woodland path along Brandy Brook and on to Little Rhyndaston. In view of the strong winds it was decided to avoid the exposed top of Dudwell Mountain, instead heading through the woodland on the Southern side of the hill. This bridal path had its own challenges with many fallen trees.
Lunch was taken in the lee of Plumstone Rock. The threat of an approaching storm was sufficient reason to take a more direct route back to the start than originally planned. This decision was vindicated when the heavens openned shortly after we sat down to enjoy a beverage at the Victoria Inn at Roch.
