MARROS, COAST PATH and MOUNTAIN
It was in January 2019 that we last walked this route so it was good to be back on these paths with a new set of Ramblers, most of whom were not members of our group back then.
As is quite often of late the weather forecast was not promising but fifteen walkers set off from Marros Church to walk down the steep track to the Coast Path.
On connecting with the Coast Path, we headed east, through woodland and moorland toward Pendine. The rain held off although the air was damp and misty but we could see Tenby in the distance.
We managed to have a coffee break in the dry before winding our way down the steep hill to Morfa Bychan beach, with its WW2 concrete fortifications.
From the beach it was a steady uphill walk on the wide track to the main Amroth to Pendine road.
I had warned that the next part of the route was extremely muddy so two of the group took the option to walk back along the road to the start point.
The rest of us continued, through the muddy section into the less muddy fields and as the rain was holding off, we took an early lunch seated on a fallen tree.
After lunch we continued through woodland to the open access moorland of Marros Mountain. By the time we reached Browns Park a steady drizzle has set in so it was a rather wet trek uphill and back to the cars.
The walk was just over 6 miles and mostly rain free.
As is our usual custom we then took refreshments in a local pub which that day was the Amroth Arms.
Many thanks to all who took a chance on the weather and I hope enjoyed the walk.
