2019-10-12 The Knights Way

Seventeen walkers set out from Amroth at a brisk pace in fine weather to start a linear walk along the Knights Way. Our route took us through Colby Woodlands before crossing fields and tracks to reach St Elidyr's Church, Ludchurch. Here we stopped for a break, the base of the preaching cross forming a convenient seating area. There was also an opportunity to see interesting memorials to a member of Captain Cooks crew and a member of the Wedgwood Pottery family. Beyond this point it was necessary to divert from the ‘official route’ due to obstructed footpaths at Roadside Farm. Hopefully the local authority will address this long standing issue in the near future.

Upon reaching Templeton six walkers taking the 7 mile option ended their walk. Perhaps this was a wise move as shortly after the heavens opened and the remaining party donned waterproofs. Fortunately the rain was short lived and we were able to complete the walk in dry conditions.

Special thanks should be given to Mike W who, despite ending his walk at Templeton, kindly met us at Minwear to ferry those who decided to walk the full route back to their cars at Templeton.
