Thirteen walkers and two small dogs braved the elements for an eight-mile walk from St Brides in the first of Pembrokeshire Ramblers winter festival of walks which took place on Boxing Day.
Some people may consider 13 to be a bit of an unlucky number but this 13 were very lucky indeed with regard to the weather! With minutes to go before the start of the walk conditions were pretty grim with persistent rain and heavy cloud cover. However as soon as everyone gathered for the start of the walk the rain stopped, the sun came out and there was wall to wall blue sky.
The group and their two faithful companions set off east along the lane towards Little Haven taking a path to Lower Broadmoor farm before linking up with the lane again.
A short coffee stop was taken at Talbenny Church and everyone was very struck with the beauty of the setting with lovely views towards Broad Haven.
From there the group were very quickly on to the coast path and into the pretty woodland of Goultrop Roads.
The ramblers went on and around Borough Head and after finding a nice sheltered spot for lunch they continued heading back to St Brides, taking in the little cove of Mill Bay on the way.
With the wind picking up and more exposure to the elements there was plenty of spectacular coastal scenery to enjoy on the final stretch back to the beach.
Refreshments were taken at the Lobster Pot in Marloes afterwards with everyone agreeing the winter festival had got off to a good start with hopefully two more great walks to come.
