Preseli top, Foel Cwmcerwen

Fifteen ramblers set off in hot and sticky conditions on Sunday for a ten mile ramble in the Preselis.  Given the long break in normal rambling activities due to Covid-19 members enjoyed meeting up with old friends and catching up on each other’s news.

The starting point for the walk was the Bluestone Pillar car park below Carn Menyn.

The group followed the road west for a short distance before taking the bridle way to the south west of Craig Talfynydd.

They followed the bridle way for about a mile before turning west on to the ‘Golden Road’ - the ancient right of way that runs along the length of the Preselis.

Coffee was taken at Cerrigmarchogion and at this point there was some welcome cloud cover and a bit of a breeze sprang up.

From there the group carried on along the ridge to Foel Feddau and then swung south to Foel Cwmcerwyn.  Everyone enjoyed the panoramic views but unfortunately time at the trig point was cut short by a resident swarm of flying ants!

The ramblers dropped down to the nearby cairn where lunch was taken before retracing their steps along the ridge.

They took a longer route back via Beddarthur (Arthur’s grave) and Carn Menyn with lovely views of Rhestr Gerrig.... the river of stones.

Very welcome refreshments were taken at Tafarn Zinc in Rosebush.
